Sweet Seaside February

Sunkissed Sunrise😘

Beginning a sweet day in Wildwood, NJ with a loving, grateful heart 2023

Find the sweetness in your own heart, then you may find the sweetness in every heart… ~ Rumi

We’ve reached the sweetest week in winter, when love and lots of chocolate are at the forefront of the average, sugar-loving heart. What is it that makes winter so sweet? Is it, for some, knowing it will eventually end, that sunlight is waiting at the end of that cold, dark tunnel? For those live-in-the-moment beings, winter is the time for slowing down, for sipping from life’s cup, hopefully filled with anything hot, sweetened, and Starbucks. With warmth literally in the palm of our hands, winter offers us time for resting and reflecting, for mornings spent making angels in the snow (or cookies in the kitchen), for comfy fireside nights. And those moments in between? Afternoons siestas are oh-so-sweet when there’s a chill in the air.

New Year’s resolutions aside, our goals tend to be smaller when the days are shorter. In the summer, our plans may involve more ā€œstepsā€ like vigorous beach walks, lengthy bike rides and exciting boardwalk adventures with a goal of getting fit. During the winter, however, our steps may revolve around household chores, walking from home to the car, etc. with a sole purpose of staying warm and dry.

For now, those action-packed, rollercoaster rides can wait, we’ve got page-turning books to read, cozy soups to create and soft blankets to rest beneath.

Here’s to quiet, sweet seaside moments, to sunny, spirit-warming days, to soulful, stargazing nights and to the wisdom to use these fleeting days wisely (chocolate hearts not required but certainly recommended).

Happy Valentine’s Day! šŸ’–
