January’s Seaside Resolutions

Winter’s Wildwood Days..

Resolving to enjoy the winter scenery (Wildwood, NJ)

A new year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other… ~ Oscar Wilde

Before moving onto February, let’s review. What did we resolve to do (or not do) this first month of 2025? Start that home-with-an-ocean-view piggy bank? More veggies, less vodka martinis? More cardio, less “couch potato-ing?”

Achieved any of that yet? No worries if you haven’t. Those intentions were set last year (otherwise known as last month). Should we really hold ourselves accountable to goals that were made the previous year? 🤔

It’s been said that January is a month of dreamers (hence the need for the aforementioned piggy bank), so while we dream away our winter with thoughts of oceanfront property, healthier minds and bodies (and the Summer of 2025), let’s remember, 11 more months remain in this still-new year. Plenty of chances to get it “sort of” right.

So, we don’t live in that sweet cottage by the sea and those 10 pounds are strangely attached to us. That’s okay. Let’s resolve to be satisfied anyway, happily content with where we’re at and what we’ve got in the Here and Now.

Remember, that ocean view is for everyone. Nobody owns that! Instead of setting hard-to-achieve goals, why not keep it simple and decide this is our “Zen year,” the year that we watch more sunrises (and less social media posts), peace out and propose to live this imperfect life to the fullest (10 pounds and all).

Here’s to a year of getting it right some of the time, to never beating ourselves up for resolutions not met and to always, always enjoying the view! 🪟🌅
